Our clients in South London are urgently seeking to recruit a
Locum Band 6/7 Perinatal Nurse to join their Perinatal Mental Health Service.
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Job Purpose
Ensure that women (regardless of age) who are pregnant and booked for delivery and/or have infants up one-year-old receive appropriate screening and identification of their mental health needs and are managed accordingly throughout this period.
Provide supervision and guidance to the specialist mental health midwives and team of midwives providing maternity care to women.
Provide on-going training, supervision, consultation and advice on mental health issues in childbearing to a range of professionals who work closely with this group of women.
Actively liaise with primary care, maternity and health visiting staff as well as mental health services regarding referrals and care co-ordination, including facilitating professionals’ meetings.
The service aims to provide a pragmatic and user friendly service where the post holder will support the further development and maintenance of structures to ensure the team’s accessibility, excellent communication, excellent assessment of patients and provision of expert assistance and advice about the management of mental health issues in the perinatal period. The post holder will be pivotal to the establishment of the ethos of the team and to the integration of Liaison Psychiatry and Maternity Services through development of and maintenance of good working relationships and collaborative partnerships with the in-patient and community services.
