Our clients in South West London are urgently seeking to recruit a Locum Band 6 CPN o join their Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Job Summary
Access (Access Child and Youth Mental Health Service) provides mental health telephone, video and face to face screening assessments and brief family consultation interventions to children and adolescents experiencing a range of mental health, neurodevelopmental and emotional health difficulties. Access is a multi-disciplinary service, which was developed as a partnership between the Trust and the Local Authority. Referrals are accepted from all professionals and 16 and 17 year olds can self-refer to the service. New referrals are triaged within 24 hours, and an initial triage call and if appropriate longer assessments are offered to families within 14 days from referral. Following assessments, young people are signposted / referred to appropriate local services as needed. The service operates a triage rota to screen referrals and a duty rota to manage risk.
Please note- the service operates a hybrid model, combining working from the office and working from home. Working from home for 1-2 days is optional, but the candidate will need to be in the office at least 3 days out of 5. If candidates prefer to work onsite only, we are able to accommodate this, but we cannot enable WFH only due to the need to offer face to face assessments to young people and families.
Key tasks in the role are:
  • to be part of the triage team screening new referrals daily and making triage calls to young people and families to assess mental health needs and risk
  • conduct face to face/virtual/telephone screening mental health assessments of young children and their parents/carers referred to the service and signpost to other services for further support as appropriate
  • To liaise with multi-agency professionals as needed and provide specialist mental health advice guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the care of the young child and their parents/carers
  • To undertake risk assessment and risk management for young children and their parents/carers and develop safety plans in collaboration with young people and families as needed.
