Our clients in South East London are urgently seeking a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse to join their Mental Health Liaison Service.
Hours: The successful candidate will be required to cover a mixture of shifts totalling 37.5 hours per week this will include, Earlies, Lates, Long Days, Nights and some weekends.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, proactive, and competent band 5 RMNs who will act as the primary interface between the Emergency Department and Mental Health Liaison Team. This is a new role for the Mental Health Liaison Team, and it is a very exciting time to join this progressive, supportive, and highly experienced team.
To help coordinate and hold the unit when the PLNs are assessing patients, in ED majors and elsewhere.
To support patients on the unit, provide emotional support and therapeutic engagement
To support patients on the unit, provide emotional support and therapeutic engagement
Liaise with community teams, primary care, third-sector and housing agencies to gather collateral information that can help inform the assessment and risk managements plan for patients in the unit.
Support the implementation of agreed care plans, as advised by the PLNs, which may include liaising with home treatment teams, carers and bed managers to support and improve the timely discharge of patients
Implementing safe and therapeutic observations policy levels, supporting junior healthcare assistants in the delivery of enhanced care.
Monitor nutrition and hydration ensure adequate intake.
To provide an on-going, continual assessment of patient’s risk
Report patients’ allergies if known.
Work closely with our acute trust colleagues to ensure bedding etc is available and after patient use, this is cleared away in appropriate linen bags.
Support PLN's and ED to complete swabs of patients waiting for an admission
Support PLN's to complete four hourly reviews when required.
Complete checks on the unit as appropriate such as PPE, stock, temp, machines etc
Administer medication in pairs according to trust policies
Daily decontamination of medical devices and report any faults.
Daily environmental checks i.e. PPE stock checklist, daily medical equipment checklist.
Daily checking of rooms temperature on the unit i.e. fridge in clinical room
Monitor physical health as required. Recognising patient health deterioration and action – monitoring physical health, checking vital signs such as Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respiration, Temperature, Saturation, Blood glucose, Glasgow coma scale.
Support with contacting ARC/liaising with bed management if appropriate
